The very ubiquity of indifference should give us pause…
Kathleen Norris, Acedia and Me, Page23

Definition: Sloth is a sad, restless and ungrateful boredom in the face of spiritual good. It is spiritual joylessness, carelessness, jadedness, thanklessness, unfruitfulness, lovelessness and hopelessness.
What its not inefficiency (being slow) resting or relaxing (theres a time and a place for this) times of depression or inability to proceed its not even mere laziness (its more restless than this more miserable more careless.)
Cornelius Plantinga, Theologian
A slothful person believes in nothing, enjoys nothing, cares for nothing, seeks to know nothing, interferes with nothing, loves nothing, hates nothing, finds purpose in nothing, lives for nothing and only remains alive because there is nothing he would die for.
Robert McCracken, What is Sin? What it Virtue?
Sloth makes what is of ultimate importance, not worth the effort.
Speaker/Writer Tony Campolo
So be careful how you live, not as fools but as those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity for doing good in these evil days.
The Apostle Paul in his letter to the Ephesians, chapter 5:15-16

Definition: Gluttony is the willful and insatiable desire to over consume, excessively elevate, and be preoccupied with that which God created for good. It is more interested in consuming than in what is being consumed.
Dr. Neal Plantinga, Calvin Theological Seminary
Don’t drink too much wine and get drunk; don’t eat too much food and get fat. Drunks and gluttons will end up on skid row, in a stupor and dressed in rags.
Proverbs 23:20-21, MSG
For it is possible that a wise man may use the daintiest food without any sin of epicurism or gluttony, while a fool will crave for the vilest food with a most disgusting eagerness of appetite. And any sane man would prefer eating fish after the manner of our Lord, to eating lentils after the manner of Esau, or barley after the manner of oxen. For there are several beasts that feed on commoner kinds of food, but it does not follow that they are more temperate than we are. For in all matters of this kind it is not the nature of the things we use, but our reason for using them, and our manner of seeking them, that make what we do either praiseworthy or blameable.
St.Augustine, Confessions
I fear not the uncleaness of meat, but the uncleaness of desire.
St. Augustine, Confessions
The spirit is willing, but the body is weak
Jesus in Matthew 26:41, NIV
Jesus said, “I am the Bread of Life. The person who aligns with me hungers no more and thirsts no more, ever.

This is the complete Seven Deadly sins album by Hohokam which was to be released by Gary Numan’s Numa records in 1986 but was unfortunatly cancelled due to the closure of the label and other more personal reasons. There was also a version of the album with completly re-recorded new vocals by a replacement lead singer but this version i have uploaded is the one with the original Steve Devier vocals (which is far superior IMO). Enjoy!

We continue our series on the Seven Deadly Relational Sins with a look at the ever volatile sin of Anger. (But is anger really a sin?)
See full video at http://blip.tv/file/2261761 or at http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=3651530507841524663
You homework is to unpack your last anger event. What happened? What set you off? How did you manifest your anger (externally, internally, with matches, or did you just stuff it)? What specifically did you feel in your anger? Think about that for a few minutes. And lastly, think about where God was when all of this played out.
Definition: Culpable anger is a vengeful or destructive passion, often uncontrolled, that flares up against a person or thing giving pain or frustration. This passion can be exhibited outwardly via an outburst or swallowed yielding resentment and potential bitterness.
Dr. N. Plantinga, Calvin Seminary Dean
(Anger is not simple vexation, mere frustration, firmness or assertiveness, or righteous indignation).
God is a righteous judge, a God who expresses his wrath every day.
The poet in Psalm 7:11, NIV
The LORD is a jealous and avenging God; the LORD takes vengeance and is filled with wrath. The LORD takes vengeance on his foes and maintains his wrath against his enemies.
The prophet Nahum 1:2
But the LORD is the true God; he is the living God, the eternal King. When he is angry, the earth trembles; the nations cannot endure his wrath.
The prophet Jeremiah 10:10, NIV
Jesus went straight to the Temple and threw out everyone who had set up shop, buying and selling. He kicked over the tables of loan sharks and the stalls of dove merchants. He quoted this text: My house was designated a house of prayer; You have made it a hangout for thieves.
Matthew 21:12-14, MSG
“An eye for and eye leaves the whole world blind.”
Mahatma Gandhi
I will take vengeance. I will repay those who deserve it.”
