  • Does believing that God created us in his image constitute the ultimate form of "Pride" the 7th deadly sin?

Posted by admin on February 10th, 2010 and filed under pride deadly sin | 14 Comments »

Who the heck do humans think they are doing…thinking that God would make us like him? Pretty darn arrogant I think!! Doesn’t this break Deadly sin #7? Who wrote that we are made in God’s image? Obviously, someone needs to answer to God, and I mean pronto!

It would be pride for humans to doubt God, or to call him a liar. Not to mention downright rude.

If God said it, then that’s the way it is. It is prideful to argue with God.

It’s in the Bible, in Genesis. So not believing it is calling God a liar. Believing it is not pride, it’s trust.

I don’t believe so, but you may want to ask God.

NO BECAUSE IF WE HAVE PRIDE IN GOD, THAT IS NOT PRIDE IN BEING SELFISH, WE ARE WORSHIPPING GOD, FOR ALL THE WONDERFUL THINGS HE DOES FOR US, GOD BLESS.
WHO WROTE IT, GOD WROTE THE BIBLE THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT WHICH WORKS IN US WHEN WE RECIEVE CHRIST, JESUS CHRIST WAS AROUND IN THE BEGINNING, EVEN WHEN THE SAVIOUR DIDN’T COME IN THE FORM OF MAN UNTIL LATER.

Christianity teaches subjection to God and humility before God and man. Humanism teaches that there is no God… and that we as man are the highest form of life.

this is, in fact, the ultimate form of humility. this is because one who knows and believes that he is created in g-d’s image knows that he is bound by god’s rules, and that he himself is not g-d. what are g-d’s rules? to be aware of him, and to listen to him with the appreciation of being created in a manner that allows you to percieve the ultimate good and to take part of it, through acting in the proper way.

God Created us in His image. We didn’t have a vote.
The bible doesn’t have 7 deadly sins.Look up "the 7 deadly sins" origin. The bible teaches all sin is deadly.People today believe movies, books, and writings that are fake rather then read and believe the bible (devinci code,7 deadly sins, etc.)
The wages of sin is death the gift of God is eternal life.

Simply stating what God Himself said in Genesis can in no way be imputed as pride. Pride does arise, however, in man asserting his own theories of origin to avoid the issue of accountability.

To be made in God’s image is that we have one body with many different parts( I believe that Jesus is the Word of God or the truth of God’s Word made flesh and the Holy Spirit is God’s hands, all through the bible it talks about the "hand of God" was on someone, meaning giving them strenght or help, and Jesus refered to the Holy Spirit as the helper) and that we are spirits that can speak something into existance, as in all the major inventions started out a an idea in one’s mind and became real when the idea was shared with others useing word. The differance is that what God wants done He can crate it in the time He choses, while man’s creation is a lot slower. I don’t think it is pridefull for someone to write that God said "I put things in you that are like me." If two people dress the same and have the same hair cut, then they have the same likeness, but are not the same person.

The 7 deadlies originally referred to "False Pride", in which a person fails to recognize the contribution of others (including God) in one’s accomplishments. With that definition, for one who believes in God, the claim that they have an origin in God’s likeness is actually OK, since it gives credit for one’s life in part to God.

By the way, the 7 deadly sins are not biblical. They were made up by a mideviel philosopher. Not much more than a guideline, even for the religious.
