You made a great point with the “skin color” pride. For everything there is to be proud of about a race, there is a parallel characteristic of which to be ashamed.

This is true… it all depends on definition really.

If I think I’m seriously better than someone else because of what I was born with… I see that as a problem.

Happiness and contentness I can understand, but personally I reserve pride for my acheevments and skills. Nationality, race or color however… You’re taking pride in something that you had say in what so ever..

back to what i wan2 say, yes, these are good things to think about, the bad thing about religion is that it can be taken out of context a LOT of times, like when they say having pride is one of the deadly sins, it doesn’t means we can’t be proud of who we are, this is what makes religion dangerous, when the
‘word of god’ get’s taken out of context, it can send mixed messages and can have a negative influence on people

I think pride can …
I think pride can be healthy when it comes to being proud of who you are and happy w/ yourself.

I think all of the “deadly sins” are things that are good in moderation but bad in excess.
