Why are the seven deadly sins considered deadly?

What makes them deadly? Why did God choose these sins to be deadly?

They are gluttony, wrath, sloth, pride, greed, lust, and envy.
Why did God choose these things to be sins period?
Sloth is a sin but the devil never sleeps, isn’t not being slothful allowing for the devil to take hold?

They poison your soul. Only true repentance and God’s mercy are the remedy. God didn’t "choose" these to be the worst sins so much as point out which *are* the worst ruiners of men’s souls.

    Because if (when) those sins cause you to die then you go to hell. Then you die in hell and go to superhell (technically subhell) where you keep dying of your sin for eternity.

  2. These sins were set apart by the Church not because they are necessarily the worst sins anyone can commit, but because they are the root sins from which all other sins originate. For example, theft originates in greed. Murder originates in wrath or sometimes in envy. Adultery originates in lust, and so on.

    For one thing, consider what the effect is on those who are victims of people who live this way? Our economy was affected by the greedy and prideful. Our taxes pay for medicare/medicaid – how many people are type 2 diabetic due to poor eating (gluttony, sloth) and now are on gov’t insurance? How many STD’s, as well as HIV/AIDS cases are there because of casual and multiple sex (lust, greed)? How many wars and even individual fights are because someone does not thing someone else should have something (envy)?

    That seems deadly enough, don’t you think?

  6. they are like poison to your soul,once u are infected,you cannot get away with it unless the blood of Jesus who cleanse it. My friend do not forget that all sins are equal and it results in a death, spiritually talking your soul is being tormented n you have no peace at all! the fact you’ve fell for these sins n continue to wander in the dark like a blind person without yourself realising that this is not morally and spiritually okay.(the reason it is dangerous)
