If pride is considered the most deadly sin, why does the GOP endorse it?

Don’t get me wrong, I am proud to be an American.. But you seem to find all the rudimentary chauvinism on the right. I’m not saying the left is better than the right, I’m saying the GOP has a lot of fundamental christian ideals that conflict with their current ideals… More examples would be medicare, as well as an aggressive foreign policy (iran, iraq, etc.). What are the reasons for these strange contradictions?

Lastly I’m not generalizing that everyone from the right wing is Christian, but their party (the GOP) considers these values to be their bedrock of ethics…
@FLbeach: I’m not against Christians, but if this party is going to try expand the role of God, I want some accountability from this party AS WELL as from the code of ethics it supposedly goes by.
@Robert: I am proud, but I accept fault and do not let my pride obstruct the lives of others. I’m proud of my country, I don’t think that means "might is right" however.. And our country seems to use this pride as an excuse to go and "rectify" other countries.
@Robert: I was not born into any sort of "status" to be proud of… I was born to a lower middle class family in Brazil, but have lived the majority of my life in the US now (fortunately).

Also, if Aristotle says so then it must be true, but there is a difference between patriotism and pride, and chauvinism and arrogance, a fine line that this party seems to erase, remark, and cross with great frequency. All I want from the GOP is accountability, if they have christian ethics that’s good for them, but they should stick to them and let them be their guiding principles, because currently it’s money (except for Ron Paul, he’s for people).

God doesn’t matter anymore to these people. They may use God in their campaign but I see shame when I hear what they say and do the total opposite. Heaven isn’t going to be very full. I would rather spend an eternity with God. Life is short and if you want pride and greed to be your top traits, something is not wrong ~ it is that it is their choice and they will have to answer sooner or later. I would put my eggs into that basket ~ eternity not for pride fullness or greed. Peace Out….

I believe in god I’m Christian. I also dont believe in the seven deadly sins the Catholics just put that junk together after stealing the christian religion but even so why would god make pride a sin? Even though i take pride of having a god be with me and love me.

Pride "to" god? I think you meant, "Is my pride a sin to God?"

How to take a ‘Seven deadly sins–Pride’ picture?

Im a model for a modeling site. And we have a contest. Were supposed to pick one of the seven deadly sins and take that themed pic. I want to do pride. How could i do it? Please only SERIOUS answers!

You don’t need God. You are into self, the importance of you. You have to be more attractive than others. You have to stand out, be more important than others. You are jealous of God. You are like Lucifer, you want the power, the take over, you want it all. No one else matters. So now, if you are going to dress as if you are after five, you need the glittery. The low cut top with the long body forming gown. It has to be form fitting. Your hair has not one piece out of place with something in the hair …glittery, shiny, not tacky, but gorgeous. Your make up is a little much but not slutty. Pay attention to the eyes. They have to be perfect. The lipstick has to blend or match the dress to the tee. The shoes have to be stand out. Beautiful, compliment the feet to the utmost perfection. The diamonds on your fingers have to be classy, not junky. The necklace is like the shoes…stand out, yet makes the dress seem like it has grown in value by hundreds of dollars. So, how are you going to dress. Which attire are you looking at? Causal? what? Think in those lines and you will fool them all while winning the contest. Don’t forget, the mannerisms need to match the outfit…You Snob!!!!!!…………….Have fun *G*…Wish I were in the contest….Don’t forget…Do not get gaudy….You don’t want to look like a street girl….The Theme…hmmmm….Standing with both hands on the french doors as if you just opened them with a wind blower, if you have decided to wear your hair down..OR standing by a black grand piano with all white carpet…

I’m doing a project and I can’t think of any instances in which "pride" is depicted. Any help is appreciated!

Hamlet’s father is proud. He compared himself to a "radiant angel."

When Hamlet was possessed by his father’s spirit, he was proud:

The title says it all: "The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark." Because he is Prince of Denmark he is not free to carve for himself. He is subject to the voice of Denmark – and that voice was sent from Hell to speak of horrors.

Hamlet, like all the other major characters, is untrue to himself. When he is himself, he is like Horatio, a student from Wittenberg. But as he said, "Horatio, or I do forget myself." He does forget himself. A gravedigger was hired on the very day that Hamlet emerged from his mother’s womb, which was the same day his father put old Fortinbras into the womb of earth (his grave), thus acquiring land "that was and is the question of these wars" and which was Hamlet’s inheritance, figuratively a graveyard, not big enough to cover the dead from the impending war over that same land.

That is Hamlet’s dilemma – whether "TO BE OR NOT TO BE," like the Ghost, "so like the king THAT was and IS THE QUESTION of these wars."

If pride is one of the 7 deadly sins, why is everyone "so proud" of everything?

I was taught that pride is one of the worst sins (remember the angel Lucifer?). So why do so many people (ministers included) seem to always be proud of one thing or another?

most people are asleep and suffering. People are conditioned to be proud by a praise and blame society that manipulates using that kind of black magic. We have to awaken from our conditioning and to it and change it.

I’ve watched a really cool and awesome anime called ‘Fullmetal alchemist: Brotherhood’ and it emphasized that pride is the most deadliest desire. I want to know other opinions about that. It has been said that pride can lead to a downfall and that "truth" is what gives people despair when they have become arrogant.

The Christians say the pride is the worst of the Seven Deadly Sins
I studied very very, very, very, very, very, very hard for my exams and made a great deal many sacrifices. In the end, I ended up doing quite well. So why is it a sin for me to be proud of my accomplishment and hard work?
